Advancing the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda in Lebanon: A Review of Status, Gaps and Opportunities
This report provides a comprehensive assessment of progress and remaining challenges in implementing the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda in Lebanon. Drawing on institutional data, desk research, and consultations with 101 women leaders across the country, the report examines women’s participation in political, security, and justice institutions, as well as their role in conflict prevention, protection, and recovery efforts. It highlights structural barriers that continue to limit women’s meaningful participation in peace and security decision-making while documenting the critical contributions of women peacebuilders and civil society actors in advancing social stability and community resilience.
The publication offers evidence-based analysis and policy recommendations to support government institutions, civil society, and international partners in strengthening gender-responsive peacebuilding, humanitarian response, and recovery in Lebanon.
