Lebanon: UN Women Regional Director Meets Women Leading Crisis Response and Recovery - 2026
During his visit to Lebanon, UN Women Regional Director for the Arab States, Dr. Moez Doraid, met with government officials, local authorities, partners, women-led organizations and women affected by the crisis to hear about their priorities and the critical role women are playing in humanitarian response and recovery.
The visit took Dr. Doraid from Beirut and Saida to Tripoli and Akkar in North Lebanon, where he met women contributing directly to their communities amid the crisis, from preparing meals for displaced and crisis-affected families and producing essential hygiene supplies, to supporting protection services for survivors of violence. He also engaged with frontline partners and local authorities on evolving humanitarian needs and response priorities.
The visit highlighted women’s leadership across different areas of the response in Lebanon, from humanitarian service delivery to peacebuilding and recovery, and their contributions to strengthening community resilience and ensuring that the needs and voices of women and girls remain at the centre of crisis response and recovery efforts.
