Gender-based Violence (Short)
Gender-Based Violence (GBV)This video is part of a series prepared to support families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and other stressful circumstances, including the Beirut Port Explosion (August 4, 2020). It provides general information on the core concepts and types of GBV and their root causes, with a highlight on how GBV is the result of power dynamics and is reinforced by adopted gender-norms and beliefs. It also includes an overview of Law 293 on the “Protection of women and all family members from domestic violence”, in Lebanon. The video also provides guidance on what survivors or those at-risk of GBV or exposed to domestic violence can do. An overview of what the “protection request” is and what measures are included in the protection order are included. This video was developed under the UN Women project “We Can Together- Time for Real Change” implemented by CARE International in partnership with ABAAD and funded by the Government of Japan (April 2020- June 2021).
